Trial Helpers
Welcome Judges, Competitors and spectators to the 2018 GSSCC Nationals! Congratulations Dylan and Brent on your selections - I’m pleased to work this Championship with you as a team.
I am a National Level Helper in the GSSCC and have been for a number of years. This will be my fourth year as a helper at this annual event. The first year, I did the IPO1's ,IPO2’s, and Sieger Show. For the last two years, I was the back half Helper for the IPO3 Championship. I have trained with the German Shepherd Dog Club of Calgary since 2011 and recently moved part time to BC's Lower Mainland area to pursue my goals as a training-helper and competitor with my own dogs. In addition to my passion for trial helper work, I have a huge passion for training dogs in the Protection phase. I have been traveling to Finland multiple times each year to train at the SPL Helper School and currently train as a 2nd class helper student. I wish all competitors the best of luck and a safe and successful trial. Most importantly, I hope you enjoy the moment with your dogs and celebrate the moments of others enjoying our passion and love of this sport! |
I would like to start by wishing all the competitors Good Luck in this years' 2018 National Championships! Thank you for trusting me to be your back half helper for this event! I know how much work everyone has put in to training to compete this week.
I have been a training as a helper since 2013. I train with Central Plains Schutzhund Club, located in Saskatoon, SK. Though my heart is in helper work, I also train my own dog, Thunder IPO2. My most recent trials have been Front Half: 2017 Prairie Regional Championships, 2018 Ontario Regional Championships & Back Half: 2018 Prairie Regional Championships. When I am not working or training dogs, I enjoy taking care of my acreage & helping run Qadira Kennels with my wife. See you on the field! |
Brent Alvey began training his dogs in IPO in the winter of 2014, eager to learn more he began working dogs at a local club. His passion grew and under the direction of John Bonello he began honing his skills. In the summer of 2015 Brent got certified as a club level helper and soon began working dogs in trial. Always eager to gain more experience, Brent offers to work dogs for different clubs and different protection sports to expand his knowledge. Brent plans to continue perfecting his skills for years to come. Brent is also progressing as a handler, he has earned a BH on his hybrid KickAss and is actively learning APA with the intent to compete with his Malinois Rex.
